David and May Johnsen were married on November 6th, 1949. Together they were a dynamic pair of artists. For many years, the pair of Brainard, New York artists would create numerous works of art while running a local store and raising their son David M. Johnsen.

- Strived to capture the surreal essence of the world through his depictions of romantic sea scapes and emotional portraits.
- Student at N.Y Phoenix School of Design 1946-47
- John Carrol apprenticeship, 1947-50.
- Exhibited at: Barcelona, Spain - Silvermine Guild of Artists, Connecticut - Ogunquit Art Center, Maine - National Academy of Design, New York City
- Served from Private to Sargent within the United States Air Force, 1942-1945.
- Member of the Albany Artist Group Inc, Columbia Arts and Crafts Guild, and Berskhire Art Association.

- World reknown in the area of miniature art including oil, watercolor, and silverpoint, which was pioneered by Michaelangelo.
